Baking This Week

W/C December 15th

Baking on Thursday 18th and Saturday 20th

Everyday Diversity Sourdough Loaf – our house ‘white’, which is actually 30% wholegrain but with a crumb as light in texture as a usual sourdough white. This loaf includes freshly milled XXX Botanical Blend, containing 15 different grains and botanicals. Diversity in every slice. We seriously love this flour, and urge you to check out the ingredients list for this blend, Small £4, Large £5

Super-Seedy Sourdough Loaf – again 30% wholegrain but packed with lots of organic mixed seeds. Including pumpkin, sunflower, linseed, poppy and sesame seeds Large £5.25

Eight Grain Sourdough Loaf is a slightly softer style of loaf that is good for sandwiches, as well as all the usual ways you eat your bread. As you can guess, there are Eight Grains in this flour blend, combining wheat, rye and oat flakes, malted wheat, maize grits, linseed, sunflower seed and millet seed Large £5.25

NEW

Currant and Fennel Seed Sourdough A favourite loaf in-house which we have decided to stop gatekeeping! Enjoyed by both fennel lovers and sceptics, this loaf is particularly suited to the small plate meals that get thrown together often throughout the festive season. Pairs beautifully with cheeses and salami, or as the bread for a cracking toasted sandwich, this loaf can also be taken in a sweeter direction for your breakfast toast and marmalade, or simply generously buttered. The currants are Greek and organic, and the aniseed note is mild but essential, We hope you’ll love it as much as we do £5.50

100% Rye Grain and Buttermilk Loaf
This wholegrain rye sourdough loaf is soft and slightly creamy to taste, the loaf being completely hydrated by buttermilk instead of water. There is a touch of molasses for a rounded barely-there sweetness which complements the deep, sweet flavour of the rye.

Baked in a tin, with the traditional crackly crusty top, this rye is easy to slice thinly to use with smoked fish and pâté, for the many grazing meals of the season. £6

Fully Festive Focaccia

This is 3 day fermented Sourdough Focaccia, bubbly and light, in its best red and green finery. Housemade fermented chilli crisp oil is pushed into this wobbly dough and the red oil trickles into the dimples and ends up deep inside the dough. Strewn with lots of crispy fried onions on removal from the oven and drizzled with a little more oil, lots of chopped parsley is the finishing touch. This focaccia is great for all your usual uses, toasted sandwinches, a lunch with eggs or charcuterie, Howerever, we think that this partcular focaccia is a stand-alone bread, unadorned and cut up into squares for snacking or for your guests at a party maybe. These focaccia are baked in roasting pans that are 30cmx20cm and you can buy as a whole for £14, as a half for £7 and a quarter is £3.80 The photo here is of two quarter slices together. A half like this would feed 4 people generously, or many if served as small snacks

Olive and Rosemary Focaccia

Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of this focaccia but if you can imagine the photo of the Fully Festive Focaccia pictured above and replace the chillies and parsley with rosemary and green olives you have an approximation. It’s a classic. If you don’t like olives just shout, this bread is beautiful with rosemary and flaky salt only. These focaccia are baked in roasting pans that are 30cmx20cm and you can buy as a whole for £14, as a half for £7 and a quarter is £3.80 The photo here is of two quarter slices together. A half like this would feed 4 people, or many if served as small snacks

Confit garlic, Gruyere and Thyme Focaccia

Again, I don’t have a photo of this focaccia, but it is a 3 day fermented Sourdough Focaccia, bubbly and light, just like the other two. This one is studded with beautifully softened and mildly flavoured confit garlic (made in-house), pieces of nutty gruyere and fresh thyme. These focaccia are baked in roasting pans that are 30cmx20cm and you can buy as a whole for £14, as a half for £7 and a quarter is £3.80 The photo here is of two quarter slices together. A half like this would feed 4 people, or many if served as small snacks

Orders

We currently make deliveries of bread for customers in Priddy, Rodney Stoke, Wells, Chewton Mendip and Harptree. If you live within 5 miles of Priddy, we would be delighted to deliver bread to you on a Thursday or Saturday morning. Please email Leo at info@larchbakery.co.uk if this interests you and we’ll be happy to add you to our rounds.

Larch loaves are also available to buy at Rocky Mountain (postcode BA5 3HA) every Thursday and Saturday, when the fruit and vegetable market is open. Our bread and bakes can be located at the cheese stall which runs alongside the main market, and Jude who runs the stall will be happy to help.

We aim to be baking on more days in the near future, and we are looking to extend our reach to those who can’t get to Rocky Mountain regularly and also don’t live close enough for our local delivery. We are also working on our online shop, so please hang tight!

Please check out our Ingredients and Allergens page before placing an order.
